Even Yogis have bad days

Sometimes things get to be too much. Sometimes all you feel you can do is just curl up in a corner and cry, or seethe, or ignore everything until it goes away. There are days when all the breathing exercises and calming poses don't do any good.

Guess what? Yoga doesn't make you perfect, it doesn't even try. Yoga allows yourself to be present in each moment, it can help you calm yourself, but sometimes our emotions overwhelm us. As I say to my friends, "it is what it is". Don't feel bad that your practice didn't help you avoid the emotional calamity that is before you. Instead, be present in the moment, experience what you need to experience, and know that you are OK as you are. After the storm passes, reflect on the situation briefly and see if there is anything to learn. After that, let it go. You cannot control everything, trust me, I've tried. -Desk Dwelling Yogi
